MEET LIAM
Liam, 17, joined Lift Inner West amidst a battle with autism, OCD, depression, and ADHD, compounded by a history of severe bullying at his previous school.
Engaged in ongoing therapy to overcome his challenges and enhance his social skills, he started a new chapter with us, beginning with basic strength training to familiarise himself with the gym setting.
As he continued his training, Liam’s abilities and confidence grew significantly. We gradually introduced more complex exercises, aligning with his improved fitness level. Our approach went beyond physical training; we also nurtured his social skills, using his interest in vintage Apple products as a way to engage with trainers and other clients. This holistic approach fostered not only his physical strength but also his social interaction and communication skills.
12 months on, Liam’s transformation has been remarkable. He now confidently engages with others in the gym, has ventured into martial arts, completed a 6km run, and is learning effective stress management techniques. Additionally, Liam has achieved a significant milestone by graduating from high school, a testament to his resilience and determination.
